Hello Families,
It has been a busy week for our class. We are working on learning to read and write our names, recognize colors and shapes, and count to ten. The theme for the month is “All About Me”. We are talking about our families, our school and ourselves. We have also started working one-on-one with each student on his or her IEP (Individualized Education Plan) goals.
Our therapy services (Speech, Occupational Therapy and Adapted Physical Education) have started. Please let me know if you would like to come observe a lesson. Our therapists are excellent and can give you many wonderful ideas to use at home with your child.
We are having a great time teaming up with our next door neighbors in Room A8 for Science every afternoon. We are learning all about plants, their parts, and what they need to grow. We planted seeds last week and are excitedly watching to see when they sprout.
Last Monday we started dance class with Miss Jessica. It was so much fun! The children love the music and movement activities.
Have a great weekend!

Dear Families,
We have been very busy getting settled into our new classroom routine. The children are having fun at school and enjoying new friendships. I have had the chance to meet almost all of the parents, but for those I have not met, let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Kathy Christenson (the students call me Ms. Kathy) and I have been teaching at Palmer Way for the past 8 years. I love it here! We have the best teachers and staff in National City! I have a wonderful son who is going to college in Arizona. He just turned 21! Wow! I can’t believe how quickly time goes by. Enjoy each moment with your child because soon they will be grown!
We are so lucky to have some of the best classroom assistants working with us in our classroom. They are Ms. Liliana, Ms. Patricia, Ms. Patty and Ms. Tina. They have all been working in the district for many years and are a very important part of our class. The care and concern they have for each child is genuine. They are a great support to both the children and to me. Please let them know how much you appreciate them!
We are all here because we care about helping children. There is nothing I want more than success and happiness for your child – and for you. Let’s work together to make that a reality! Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I am willing to help you in any way I can.

I have so many fun and exciting learning activities planned for our class. Enjoy the last few days of summer and get lots of rest. I’ll see you on Monday!
Congratulations to Ramon and Valeria on the special honors they are receiving this month. Ramon has been chosen to receive Room A7’s Scholarship Award and Valeria is being honored as Citizen of the Year. Congratulations to you both!
